Gender and Financial Inclusion

Access to financial services such as savings, credits and insurance enables individuals to store value in a safe place, receive and transfer value, and manage liquidity and risk. However, women are excluded from financial services that leads to their exclusion from social and economic activities. Exclusion of women also means their potential contribution to economic growth is lost. This study documents gender gap in financial inclusion in the SADC region and also reports the link between gender and financial inclusion using FinScope Consumer survey data for ten countries.
